Vegas gambling on free Wi-Fi
McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas has deployed the largest free airport-wide Wi-Fi service in the US, covering nearly two million square feet.
Passengers can now connect with a wide range of services ranging from checking flight information from Wi-Fi enabled displays to accessing reservation kiosk services. Airport official said the new wireless environment will also support productivity and operations at the facility.
“We believe by making wireless access pervasive and free to travelers, we can help to bring lower rates and improve the quality of their travel which, in today’s travel industry, is a big plus,” said Sam Ingalls, director of Information Systems for the airport.
McCarran is the seventh largest airport in the US. It has more than 36 million passengers a year.
