Venezuela tipped as ‘hot’ new destination
Sunvil Latin America is tipping Venezuela to be a ‘hot’ new destination of the future after adding the country to its 2006 programme.
The operator’s 160-page brochure also includes Bolivia extensions from Peru and 24 pages dedicated to Brazil with a number of new areas added.
Sunvil believes Venezuela, eight hours flying time away from Europe, will be a key growth destination due to attractions such as the Angel Falls and the highest cable car in the world at Merida in the Andes.
A 10-day Essential Venezuela tour starts at £2,109 based on flights with either Lufthansa or Air Europa from Heathrow.
Director Lloyd Boutcher said: “Latin America is becoming a much more accessible destination and our bookings have increased by 30% in the last 12 months.”
He added that business through independent travel agents represented almost 50% of overall sales.
“Increased political stability in the area and improved access from mainland Europe, plus the weakness of the US dollar – meaning visitors’ money goes further – have also helped,” added Boutcher.
