Veteran Marriott Americas president to retire
Long-time Marriott executive Dave Grissen will step down as group president, the Americas later this year.
He will relinquish the position at the end of 2020 and retire from Marriott in early 2021 after 36 years at the company.
Grissen has been in charge of the Americas business for 11 years, overseeing more than 5,000 properties and 160,000 employees.
"It’s hard for me to picture a Marriott without Dave Grissen, someone who has been such an integral part of this company for so long," said Arne Sorenson, Marriott’s president and CEO.
After Grissen steps down, Liam Brown steps into the role of group president, North America and Craig S. Smith will assume the position of group president, International.
The two currently hold the posts of group president, Europe, Middle East & Africa, and grpup president of Asia Pacific respectively.
Smith will be responsible for all operations outside North America including Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East & Africa, and Caribbean & Latin America regions.
He has spent 32 years at Marriott.
