Victoria’s Bogong High Plains Road from Mt Beauty to Falls Creek and through to park to the Blue Duck is open to all traffic
Victorian Authorities have announced that after the bush fires that have devastated some parts of Victoria, the Bogong High Plains Road from Mt Beauty to Falls Creek and through to park to the Blue Duck is open to all traffic.
While Parks Victoria may restrict access to some parts of the Alpine National Park affected by fire activity, the good news is the alpine resort and surrounding tourist-friendly attributes (such as Wallaces Hut) are now accessible to visitors.
The very unseasonal cool weather, particularly over the Christmas holidays effectively removed the threat of fire to the alpine resort, with reports that Vic Roads have done a fabulous job on the access road to Falls replacing guideposts damaged in the fire.
All the relevant authorities were acutely aware that the lack of open access to the road from Mt Beauty to Falls Creek was seriously affecting the livelihood of business operators plus it was disrupting holiday-maker plans.
However, they worked as expeditiously as possible to provide safe access to the resort in time for New Year’s Eve.
The Milch cafe/bar (and GLO Cinema) is offering a three-course dinner with live entertainers Jo Ellis & Mark Featherstone (who played at last year’s New Year’s Eve gig) for approx $55 a head.
For details of what’s on at Falls Creek, The Falls Creek Resort Management office is open between 9:00am and 5:00pm until Friday 29 December on 03 5758 1241.
