Vietnam hotels on the move
HANOI – The number of three- to five-star hotels and resorts in Vietnam rose by almost half and room numbers more than doubled in three years, according to an industry survey.
Ho Chi Minh City had the highest occupancy rates, averaging almost 80 percent last year, while the capital Hanoi had the costliest room rates, according to the Hotel Survey 2008 by consultancy Grant Thornton.
Average room rates rose 37 percent from 2006 to 2007, according to the survey of 37 hotels with more than 5,200 rooms across Vietnam.
On average there were 1.1 employees per hotel room in northern Vietnam, 1.4 in the south, and 5.6 in the central and highlands region.
