Vietnam tourism officials urge scrapping of entry testing

Vietnam’s Tourism Advisory Board has called on the government to ditch Covid testing for arriving foreign visitors. It says the government should ‘treat foreign and domestic tourists alike.’

Currently, domestic travellers do not quarantine or need to test.

The board said Vietnam should follow other nations and scrap testing on entry. Also, unvaccinated under 12s should be treated the same as their parents and should not need to be tested.

Council member Luong Hoai Namsaid Vietnam should have more open tourism rules in order to compete with other countries reopening.

“No foreign tourist will be ready to return to the country if we impose strict restrictions,” Luong said.
