Australia based theme park operator Village Roadshow has formed a joint venture with leisure company Mission Hills China and Guangxi Investment Group to establish China’s first Wet’n’Wild water theme park.

Wet’n’Wild Haikou will follow a similar concept to Village Roadshow’s parks Wet’n’Wild Gold Coast, Wet’n’Wild Sydney and Wet’n’Wild Las Vegas.

The project will be developed by Mission Hills Group and operated by Village Roadshow, featuring a 8,000 square metre indoor family water park open year-round.

"Mission Hills Group is excited to work with Village Roadshow Limited, the proven global experts in theme park development and management. The addition of Wet’n’Wild Haikou will reaffirm Mission Hills Haikou’s position as one of the most sought-after tourism destinations in the world," said Ken Chu, chairman of Mission Hills Group.

The water park will be sited within Haikou’s Mission Hills Centreville resort area which has numerous leisure attractions, restaurants and bars, shopping and entertainment.

"Our involvement in the Wet’n’Wild Haikou project and future operation of the park represents significant reward and recognition of VRTP’s branding and world-class capabilities," said Village Roadshow Theme Parks (VRTP) chief executive Tim Fisher.
