The first of the twice-weekly flights to the Jamaican destination from Gatwick started today (Monday) using a Boeing 747-400.
Montego Bay is the airline’s 27th route and its eighth in the Caribbean and will provide additional capacity for sister tour operation Virgin Holidays.
The airline’s chairman Sir Richard Branson said: “We are the first UK scheduled airline to arrive in Montego Bay and passengers travelling on the route will now benefit from increased competition which will ultimately lead to better value for money and quality of service for passengers travelling.”
