Virgin America brand says farewell on April 24
Alaska Airlines has set the date for Virgin America to fly off into the sunset for the last time.
The Virgin America brand will cease to be after April 24.
Two passenger flights depart San Francisco that day, followed by a special farewell flight for Virgin America employees departing LAX for San Francisco which marks the end of the airline.
The following day the combined business officially falls under the Alaska Airlines brand name with a single reservations system, website and app.
All gates and check-in areas will lose their Virgin America branding and operate solely under Alaska.
The only reminder of the Virgin name will still be seen on aircraft livery as these are still being rebranded.
Alaska Air Group purchased Virgin America in a $2.6 billion deal in late 2016.
