Virgin Australia joins with HNA Group airlines in frequent flier partnership
Virgin Australia’s Velocity frequent flyer programme has added another reciprocal partner, offering benefits with four major Chinese airlines.
Virgin has joined hands with Hainan Airlines’ Fortune Wings Club programme, which also includes sister airlines Hong Kong Airlines, Capital Airlines and Tianjin Airlines.
Fortune Wings Club members can earn award points when flying with Virgin Australia between Australia, New Zealand and Greater China including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
Velocity members will also earn points on flights with any of the Fortune Wings Club member airlines from August.
More details will be shared next month about award ticket redemption and elite benefits offered between the two programmes.
This takes the number of Virgin Australia partner airlines to 18.
HNA Group and Virgin Australia first tied up last year with a codeshare agreement which officially began this month with Virgin’s inaugural Melbourne-Hong Kong flight.
It marks the first phase of a planned strategic alliance with HNA-owned Hong Kong Airlines.
