Virgin Australia signs new codeshare pact with Alitalia

Virgin Australia has announced a new codeshare arrangement with Italy’s flag carrier Alitalia.

Beginning on April 15, Virgin customers will be able to book Alitalia flights from Abu Dhabi to Rome and Milan Malpensa, a route which is still awaiting regulatory approval.
~
The codeshare pact will offer through ticketing and connections via Virgin Australia’s three times a week service between Sydney and Abu Dhabi.

The alliance will also offer frequent flyer benefits between the airlines, the details of which will be announced soon.

“We are very excited to partner with Alitalia and provide more choice to our customers travelling to Italy. Like Virgin Australia, Alitalia has a commitment to superior customer service and a young fleet,” said Virgin Australia chief commercial officer Judith Crompton.

“Members of our Velocity Frequent Flyer program and Alitalia’s MilleMiglia program will soon benefit from the partnership. We will continue to work closely with other international carriers to give our customers access to more destinations, more flights and more convenient schedules.”
