Virgin Blue ends Sydney Airport battle
Virgin Blue and Sydney Airport Corporation have ended their four and a half year battel over domestic runway landing and takeoff charges avoiding the threat of what would have been a very costly legal battle.
Under a new deal pricing will be based on maximum take-off weight rather than a price per passenger which is what the airport had demanded, which Virgin Blue said had increased its costs by 53%, with CEP Brett Godfrey saying that it severley disadvantaged the business.
He also said that as part of the agreement, Virgin Blue will relocate its lounge to terminal 2 next year
Sydney Airport Corporation CEO Russell Balding sadi that the issue had been resolved to the satisfaction of Virgin Blue and Sydney Airport”.
