Virgin Blue not saying much about Air Asia bid
A Daily Telegraph article says that despite persistent rumours that Air Asia will buy control of Virgin Blue, Toll Holdings boss Paul Little is giving little away.
The chief executive of the transport and logistics company told The Daily Telegraph yesterday a number of international parties were keen to snap up Virgin Blue.
But he refused to confirm that the Malaysia-based budget airline was one of them.
Toll, which owns 62 per cent of the carrier, will make a decision on the stake early next year.
An Air Asia purchase would give Virgin Group boss Richard Branson a significant foothold back into the Australian airline after he was cleverly cut down to a minority shareholder in 2005.
Mr Branson owns 20 per cent of Air Asia, which recently launched long-haul flights into the Gold Coast.
