Virgin Express makes cheap tickets more flexible
Virgin Express has simplified its fare structure to offer just two ticket types.
Customers can choose from Virgin Value tickets, which are the lowest available fare available or the more expensive, but more flexible Virgin Corporate ticket.
Virgin Value passengers can change the date of travel, destination or name of passenger for €25 per change, up to 24 hours before departure. Previously, the cheapest tickets were non-flexible. Virgin Corporate passengers have fully flexible tickets that can be changed or cancelled at no extra charge up to one hour before departure.
Currently the website is still displaying a number of ticket types for each flight, but a spokesperson for Virgin Express said that from the end of the week there would be just two ticket prices available for each flight.
Virgin Express commercial director, Paul Sies said: “We are convinced that as a result of our changing pricing structure more people will become conscious of the complex fare rules of other airlines and of the ridiculously high fares that these carriers charge”.
The move follows a trend led by carriers such as British Airways, Swiss and bmi british midland, which have tried to boost bookings by removing restrictions on fares, such as the Saturday night stay rule.
Virgin Express offers flights to 14 destinations out of its Brussels hub. These are Athens, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Faro, Geneva, Gothenburg, Lisbon, London Heathrow, Madrid, Malaga, Milan, Nice, Rome and Stockholm.
