The Virgin Holidays retail empire is to expand after it announced that it would be creating up to 40 new high street stores over the next 18 months, doubling its current stock.
The new stores, which will mean an extra 200 jobs for agents, will all be concessions within bigger stores such as Tesco, Debenhams and House of Fraser – as is the case with the existing 40 Virgin Holiday stores.
The group wants to grow its brand outside the south east of the country so the new shops will be mainly in the Midlands, the north of England and Scotland although the first one to open this month will be in Portsmouth.
Others stores will follow in Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Sheffield, Nottingham, Gateshead and Exeter.
