Virgin manager leaves to head GTMC
Paul Wait, Virgin Atlantic’s general manager UK, global and multi-national sales is leaving the airline after 13 years to take up the role of chief executive of the GTMC.
Prior to joining Virgin, Wait was VP sales for American Express.
GTMC chairman Ajaya Sodha said: "I am delighted with the appointment of Paul Wait as GTMC chief executive. Paul brings many years of experience in the business travel sector and already knows the GTMC, its members and partners well. It is vital that the GTMC has a strong communicator with a strategic outlook and extensive contacts in every facet of the business travel field, we feel Paul has this in abundance and we look forward to the next chapter of the GTMC’s development with much anticipation."
Wait added: " I plan to build on the momentum that the GTMC has established in recent years – particularly in being the voice of business travel in the corridors of Westminster. I look forward to working with the Board, members and partners to ensure that the GTMC is viewed as a modern, relevant and value-for-money membership body.
"Naturally I am sad to be leaving Virgin Atlantic – it’s a great company, I’ve learnt so much, had amazing colleagues and it’s been 13 action-packed years."
