Virgin probe ‘hysterical’ stewardess
Virgin Atlantic has launched an internal investigation following claims an air stewardess repeatedly shouted “we’re going to crash” as a flight to the US hit severe turbulence.
Passengers were said to be panic-stricken by the screams as the Boeing 747 plunged dramatically on a flight from London to Las Vegas.
One told the BBC that people were crying and being sick as the plane shuddered violently while another said some passengers were unable to get back to their seats and had to sit on the floor “and hold on to whatever they could.”
Another said: “I sat there and sobbed, because if an air hostess says you’re crashing then that is what is going to happen.”
Virgin said safety of passengers is its top priority.
