Virginia Tourism, United Airlines launch joint UK campaign

Virginia Tourism Corporation President and CEO, Rita McClenny, along with United Airlines’ representatives introduced a new joint campaign to the UK travel trade

The multichannel campaign, entitled ‘Come Find YOUR Virginia’ targets British travellers and is the latest step in a long-term partnership designed to familiarise United Airlines’ top-tier customers with Virginia’s luxury options.

Virginia, known for its iconic “Virginia is for Lovers” brand, is looking to attract more travellers from the UK, which already tops Virginia’s overseas inbound tourism rankings.

The state has non-stop flights on United Airlines from London Heathrow to Washington Dulles.

“The UK is already our number one market for overseas inbound travel,” said McClenny.

“Yet we know that if more Brits were familiar with just how much Virginia has to offer, we would welcome even more visitors from the UK every year.”

“With our shared history, stunning outdoor landscapes, and luxury, off-the-beaten-path accommodations, Virginia offers today’s travellers everything they are seeking in a US holiday.”

The cooperative campaign seeks to inspire, guide, and enable travellers to enjoy more meaningful trips.

Research points to the UK traveller as a culture-seeking audience craving authenticity and adventure.

The campaign utilises print, video, outdoor and digital mediums to present a customised storytelling program designed to inspire.

Launching in two phases, the first in late October and the second through spring 2023, the various mediums seen throughout England will drive potential travellers to a unique microsite at United Airlines’ Hemispheres Magazine online.

From there, visitors will be directed to the United Airlines booking site as well as to the exclusive luxury page found on Virginia Tourism’s website at virginia.org/united.

The page, the result of a first-of-its-kind partnership, offers bespoke luxury packages for United’s MileagePlus Members at some of Virginia’s premier properties.

“Virginia offers a lot to love.  This new campaign is our invitation to British travellers to come and craft their own unique Virginia experience,” McClenny added.
