VisitScotland boss in talks over his position
A question mark hangs over whether Visit Scotland’s chief executive Philip Riddle will remain in post today after the tourism quango confirmed that “discussions are progressing in private” concerning his position.
Riddle, who is not undertaking CEO duties during the talks, fell under the media spotlight at the weekend when Scotland’s Sunday Herald newspaper claimed that he had lost the confidence of his colleagues at the organisation.
According to the paper, the board’s new chairman Mike Cantlay has told long-termer Riddle that he does not have a future at Visit Scotland, a vital body in a country whose tourism is responsible for a turnover of £4 billion a year.
