Viva Macau postpones Sydney-Macau service launch.

With Sydney media and industry leaders all set to be at Sydney airport on Thursday morning to herald the arrival of Viva Macau’s first flight into Sydney, a rather frantic call late Wednesday advised that the launch had been postponed.

Apparently due to unforseen delays in regulatory approval, scheduled services are also affected with the revised commencement date of the three times weekly service to be announced in due course.

Con Korfiatis, the airline’s Chief Executive said, “We are greatly disappointed with the last-minute unforeseen postponement, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that may have caused our customers.”

“However, we expect only a small number of flights will be affected until we have received the final approval.”

“As an airline committed to providing a quality and value-for-money flying experience, we have immediately responded by arranging every possible alternative to minimize the inconvenience to affected passengers, both in Macau and Sydney, with affected passengers offered either, a full refund on the total amount of air ticket(s) purchased, or Viva Macau will arrange another flight with another airline via Hong Kong or on a replacement aircraft on a similar schedule, or they can re-book on a future Viva Macau flight.”

“In addition to this, in appreciation of the airline’s customers, Viva Macau is also offering each affected passenger a free return ticket to any of Viva Macau’s scheduled destinations, redeemable within twelve months.”

Meanwhile, the airline is in the midst of contacting every affected customer individually.

Affected customers in Macau can contact Viva Macau at (853) 8010 190 or(853) 8010 195 or (853) 8010 197.

Affected customers in Sydney can contact International Charter Group at 1300 848 262 (toll free) or +61 2 9762 1020.
