von Essen acquires French chateau
Cliveden owner von Essen Hotels has made its first overseas acquisition.
The company has bought the 13th-century Chateau de Bagnols, near Lyon in France. The 21-room property was acquired from Lady Hamlyn, the widow of publisher Lord Hamlyn, for an undisclosed sum.
Von Essen chairman Andrw Davis said: “We have planned to expand into Continental Europe for sometime and are naturally delighted to be able to acquire one of the Continent’s most outstanding luxury hotels. 2007 is set to be an exciting year for von Essen with continued plans for expansion.”
Chateau de Bagnols will become the 23rd von Essen ‘private collection’ hotel.
