von Essen acquires two top UK hotels
Von Essen hotels’ expansion across England has continued with the acquisition of The Samling and Seaham Hall Hotel and Serenity Spa for undisclosed sums.
The group’s collection of hotels now numbers 27 and includes notorious properties such as Cliveden in Berkshire and The Royal Crescent in Bath.
Seaham Hall is the leading luxury hotel and spa resort in the North East, 20 minutes from Newcastle. It is the only five star hotel in the region.
Linked to the hotel by an underground walkway, The Serenity Spa has won a string of international awards.
The Samling is one of the top luxury hotels in the Lake District – a favourite of Tom Cruise and other A-list celebrities.
The Samling has 11 suites divided between the house and adjacent buildings set into the hillside.
All the rooms have views over Lake Windermere. Five are in the main house and six have been fashioned out of the original cottages.
Andrew Davis, chairman of von Essen hotels, said: “I am delighted with the acquisition of these two very special hotels, our first in 2008 which will complement our existing Collection and expand the reach of von Essen into Northern England.
“Seaham Hall and The Samling are real treasures and we look forward to sharing them with our customers in the years to come.â€
