Vrbo partnership with WeatherPromise to fully compensate a rainy holiday
Vrbo announced a partnership with Weatherpromise, which is offering travelers full payouts if rainy weather ruins their trip.
U.S. travelers heading to destinations around the world can now add WeatherPromise to select reservations on Vrbo.
WeatherPromise automatically tracks the weather and pays Vrbo guests if rainfall exceeds a set threshold during their stay — no claims process or hassle required. Travelers can see what qualifies and check details any time in their WeatherPromise dashboard.
“At Vrbo, our booking experiences are designed to help travelers find the perfect property for their trip and give them the confidence to book. Now, we’re taking that commitment a step further,” said Larry Plawsky, General Manager of Vrbo.
“We can’t control the weather, but with WeatherPromise, guests can get paid for their vacation when the weather doesn’t cooperate. Vrbo is the largest vacation rental brand where guests can access this innovative product, helping brighten even the rainiest getaway.”
The rainfall threshold set by WeatherPromise is determined through a proprietary machine learning algorithm based on historical rainfall trends specific to the travel destination and dates. The weather is then monitored by WeatherPromise using millions of weather data points, including satellite imagery and radar.
“Today’s vacationers want to map out their own adventures. Our partnership with Vrbo gives them greater peace of mind and confidence, no matter when and where they choose to travel,” said Daniel Price, co-founder of WeatherPromise. “We’ve built a simple way to take the stress out of unpredictable weather so people can focus on enjoying their trip, while knowing their vacation investment is protected rain or shine.”
This product is available to select travelers in the U.S..
