WA launches ‘TV’ website

Saturday, 15 Aug, 2007 0

An AAP report says that Western Australia is beaming footage of its attractions to the world via a new website, with WA Tourism Minister Sheila McHale saying the website is the first of its kind for any Australian tourism government agency.

“Put simply, this is ‘television on the internet’ where viewers can select what they want to watch and when,” Ms McHale said on Tuesday.

WATV’s site will include footage of such major WA events as the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race and the Red Bull Air Race.

The site also contains clips of Perth and Margaret River and interviews with singer Toni Collette in Fremantle, comedian Ben Elton in Perth, and cricketers Dennis Lillee and Geoff Thompson.

The website is at www.westernaustralia.tv
