Waldorf Astoria New York appoints new MD

Michael B. Hoffmann has been appointed by Hilton Worldwide as managing director of the Waldorf Astoria New York.
 
He also assumes the same role at the Towers of the Waldorf Astoria.
 
He was recently the vice president of brand performance support for the Waldorf Astoria and Conrad Hotels & Resorts brands and has been at Hilton Worldwide since 2005.
 
"We are thrilled to have Michael and his profound experience and expertise in hospitality lead our brand’s flagship hotel," said John Vanderslice, global head, luxury and lifestyle brands, Hilton Worldwide. 
 
"It was critical to place a strong brand leader in the Waldorf Astoria New York, a hotel that will undergo a stunning transformation which will establish a new level of luxury within the industry."
 
Swiss national Hoffmann also founded Hoffmann Hospitality, a consulting company offering branding and management solutions for hotels and was previously managing director of Hilton’s Boulders resort in Carefree, AZ until 2013.
 
He has served in management and global operations for a number of other premium hospitality brands including Peninsula Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons.
 
"With over three decades of leadership positions within luxury hotels and the Hilton Worldwide portfolio, Michael has demonstrated expertise in repositioning hotels and resorts while increasing profitability and market share," added Keith Clampet, senior vice president of operations, owned assets for Hilton Worldwide.
