Wallet watchers prompt demand for European all-inclusives

Coach tour operator Shearings is reporting an increase in interest in European all-inclusive holidays as clients continue to watch their wallets.
The operator says the availability of all-inclusive holidays in the Caribbean, Mexico and Egypt has given clients a taste for the model and they are now looking to enjoy the same sort of holiday closer to home.
The strong euro has also contributed to the desire by customers to know they have paid for everything up front.
Shearings says Spain, Italy, Austria and Germany are increasing their availability of all-inclusives to compete with long and mid-haul destinations. The operator saw bookings for its all-inclusive product grow from 21% of its total European bookings to 27% in January.
Commercial director Caroline Brown said: “All-inclusive holidays have historically been enjoyed by people travelling further afield to less familiar destinations, where the assurance of quality food and drinks was seen as an added benefit.
“Now they are considered by many as a way of budgeting for their annual getaway and making sure they get the best value.
“Shearings is working closely with agents to help them tap into this trend by widening its all-inclusive offering to new destinations, particularly in places where agents have previously struggled to find value deals, such as Austria and Germany. We’ve also added more all-inclusive tours in some of our most popular destinations including Lake Como in Italy and Salou in Spain.”
