Walsh calls for action on airport security

Thursday, 13 Nov, 2014 0

Willie Walsh has criticised airport security measures, saying they are frustrating and inconsistent.

Speaking to delegates at the Airport Operators Association conference in London this week, the IAG chief executive said governments and airports should completely rethink the security process, rather than just reacting to the latest incident.

According to a report on Buying Busines Travel, Walsh said going through security is still the most frustrating part of flying for passengers.

He also questioned why some airports still make passengers take off their shoes and remove their ipads from their luggage while others don’t.

"The airline industry would have gone bankrupt if we were still doing the same things as 20 years ago," he said.

"Some airports do it well but some should be doing it better."
