‘We are not isolationist’ says Advantage chief executive
Advantage Travel Centres chief executive John McEwan said its members had shown a “real level of confidence†in its decision to leave Triton.
He said the highly-publicised departure was a “distraction†but added: “The response that we got from members was very positive and showed they were very happy with our decision.
“We left Triton for commercial reasons. We are not isolationist but firmly believe that any entity for independents should not be commercial in its nature and should not be taking commercial decisions.â€
But he said he wished the break-up had been handled differently.
“There were a lot of things played out publicly which need not have happened, but it is behind us now and we must move on.â€
