Weather forecast: fewer storms predicted
Tropical Storm Chris ran out of steam quickly last weekend and the forecast for similar potential hurricanes this season was reduced.
Colorado State University, which had previously predicted 17 tropical storms, reduced that number to 15. That is about average.
The forecast predicted nine of those storms would become hurricanes’ the prediction was also for three “intense” storms of Category 3 or higher, which have sustained winds of at least 111 miles per hour.
Last year, there was a record 28 tropical storms, blowing away the old number of 21 set back in 1933.
Meanwhile, both Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World in Orlando are attempting to ease any fears about hurricanes by offering new policies of money-back guarantees.
Sea World in Orlando also has a similar general policy for visitors to cancel or reschedule because of hurricanes.
