Well-heeled travelers spending $5,000+ per trip
A huge majority of affluent travelers plan to hit the road this summer, according to a new survey by Thomas, Townsend & Kent.
Almost 90 percent of well-off respondents (those with household incomes of $100,000 or more) are planning vacation travel this year. Most of those in the survey, or more than 70%, plan to travel this summer.
About one third of respondents plan to spend in excess of $5,000 for each trip; nearly one in five said they would spend more than $10,000.
The respondents are also booking far in advance of their departure date, often five weeks or more beforehand.
“It is critical that marketers who rely on the business of affluent travelers communicate with them early and often,” suggested Roy Weiss, executive vice president of Thomas, Townsend & Kent.
