Welsh rugby team visits Star City for lunch

Saturday, 31 May, 2007 0

OK so this is not that much to do with tourism, but although I am now an Aussie, my roots are in Wales and I could not resist it!

So, when good friend and fellow Australian Welshman from Llandudno, Barry Jones, top chef at Sydney’s Star City called me a few weeks ago while I was in Fiji, telling me I just had to get around to Star City on Saturday for lunch, I was devasted to have to tell him I would still be in Fiji.

I did try and say to my wife that we should return early, but that might have caused divorce proceedings!

The occasion was that Barry [pictured right – he’s the guy in the white!] had invited the whole of the Welsh rugby team around to Star City for a private lunch with the bad news being I couldn’t be there!

Never mind, but with the result last Saturday a last minute disaster for Wales, I am told that the boys are really, really angry and are determined to win this Saturday’s match in Brisbane, so watch out Wallabys!
