WestJet impacted by cyberattack
Canadian carrier WestJet was hit by a cyberattack causing disruption to website access and its app.
Few details have been disclosed and the airline hasn’t said whether any personal customer data was compromised.
“WestJet is aware of a cybersecurity incident involving internal systems and the WestJet app, which has restricted access for users,” the airline said on Friday.
By Sunday it regained access to the WestJet app and website but warned there could still be disruptions.
It said there was no impact to flight operations.
The airline informed police and Transport Canada.
“WestJet continues to make progress on safeguarding our digital environment and supporting the specialized teams working to resolve this situation.”
The airline hasn’t said what type of cyberattack it was but would continue to provide regular updates.
