Wet’n’Wild is just that

Saturday, 19 Dec, 2007 0

As the intrepid Gen Y trio continue our quest for the holy grail of having way too much fun on the Gold Coast, we are having a really great time, staying at the funky Vibe Gold Coast Hotel, which is pretty cool [except for the breakfast] and we really haven’t eaten there in the evenings, don’t even know if you can, as we either go out and there are heaps of restaurants around or we are simply too tired!

The bar is OK too and pretty funky but not really for us for the same reasons and also after a busy day at the parks, we just want to crash and also we want to watch our spends to leave some time and money for shopping.

But hey we may just leave that for another day – we also need some $$ for fuel for the plane – kind of embarrassing to run out of fuel!  The trials and tribulations of being in our own aircraft!

In any case today was Wet’n’Wild day and with Dreamworld a hard act to follow – I was brought up in the USA, so I have been to the best theme parks in the word and while Dreamworld is not as big as some of the humungous ones in the US, it is very good and great fun – a must do for any Gen Y’er on the Gold Coast.

On to Wet’n’Wild and that is just the way it is – very wet and very wild!!

With Wendy Morgan, their marketing and PR person having arranged for us to go in, [thank you Wendy], so it was board shorts time and we were ready for anything and it was anything you could think involving water that we got!

The great thing about Wet’n’Wild is that it offers more rides and attractions than any other water park in Australia, including Surfrider [pictured right] Mammoth Falls, Super 8 Aqua Racer, Speed Coaster, Twister and Terror Canyon, River Rapids at Whitewater Mountain and Australia’s largest wave pool, so we were up for an awesome day of very wet fun.

They even have a Wet’n’Wild night out at the movies, where you can catch the hottest latest release movies while floating on a tube in the Giant Wave Pool or lounging on a deckchair, with Dive’n’Movies providing the most amazing outdoor cinema experience with a giant 15 x 10 metre screen and an awesome surround sound system.

Dive’n’Movies are included in the normal admission price and screen every night from 27 December until 25 January, with some slides and pools also remaining open until the park closes at the end of the Dive’n’Movie screening.

Borgie’s favourite ride had to be the Surfrider, which he described as awesome, going on it again and again………….and again!

We all thought that all the shute or slide type rides were cool and great fun, but the one we all loved was Tornado, [pictured left] which is incredible and you have to try it!

Black Hole is spooky and not for us girls, but yes, Borgie loved it, along with Mach 5 – what is it about guys and things that are scary!

Wet’n’Wild Water World is located on Queensland’s Golf Coast, next to Warner Bros. Movie World on the M1 Pacific Motorway, which runs between Brisbane and the Gold  Coast, just 20 km north of Surfers Paradise and 50 km south of Brisbane, so dead easy to get to.

With all this activity, sun and fresh air making us hungry, the park also has a good choice of food outlets, including, the Bombora Burger Bar, which serves, yes, you guessed it, beef and chicken burgers, and a cool ice-cream Parlour and a fish and chip location, plus a snack outlet, but also there are heaps of mobiles with all sorts of food if you are hungry anytime!

Wet’n’Wild  is part of Warner Village Theme Parks  and they have has a new 3 park Mega Pass, so that guests can now experience Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World and Wet’n’Wild Water World 364 days a year for as little as $5.95 a week, now that would be cool.

In any case all this water and sun is exhausting, so it is back in the Red Spot Tida and back to the Vibe – into the spa and yes we are exhausted – early night we think!

The parks on the Gold Coast are a must visit though and even though we only visited a couple they were awesome, real Gen Y locations and must do’s!

We are too tired to even eat tonight and glad we ate today at Wet’n’Wild, so it is into the spa for ages and looking like prunes, we stagger off to bed.

Ah, ha perhaps some shopping tomorrow!
