What is top of Brits’ ‘must see’ list?
The Northern Lights tops Brits’ must see lists beating destinations like the Great Barrier Reef and Egypt’s Pyramids.
Seeing the Aurora Borealis in Norway is the number one must-see holiday destination, according to research from TravelSupermarket, with 37% of respondents mentioning it.
Visiting the Egyptian pyramids was second at 35% and a road trip down Route 66 in the US was third with 33%.
32% of those questioned said walking the Great Wall of China , while 31% said experiencing an African safari and 30% said taking a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas Strip.
Going on a cruise in the Caribbean was seventh with 29% voting, closely followed by seeing the Taj Mahal in India at 28%.
Ninth was riding a gondola in Venice which attracted 27% of people and tenth was diving in the Great Barrier Reef at 24%.
TravelSupermarket’s resident travel expert, Bob Atkinson said: "Ten years ago African safari’s and road trips down Route 66 were appealing because they were so far away, but now we’re seeing destinations much closer to home, like Norway, become a popular choice because people have decided it’s something they must see, instead of choosing long haul destinations because they’re perceived to be once in a lifetime opportunities."
What would be on your top 10 wishlist?
