- British Airways has announced free carriage for skis and snowboards or an extra piece of check-in luggage for passengers travelling to five alpine gateways from London City Airport. The offer is available to passengers booking flights from the Docklands airport to Barcelona, Chambery, Geneva, Venice and Zurich during November for travel between December and April.
- Family Ski specialist Esprit Ski has knocked up to £259 pp off a Christmas ski holiday in the Austrian resort of Obergurgl (pictured), departing on December 23. The price is now £2,500 for a two adults and two children under 12, a saving of up to £1,038. The price includes return flights from Gatwick, transfers, three days’ ski hosting, babysitting and seven night’s catered chalet hotel accommodation, including a festive Christmas Dinner. No washing up required. Childcare starts from £199 a week, exclusive of Esprit ski lessons.
- Ski Total is offering a pre-Christmas ski trip to the high-altitude French resort Les Arcs 2000 for a discounted price of £419pp, down from £599, departing on December 16. The price includes return flights from Southampton, transfers, and seven nights’ catered accommodation.
- Chalet specialist VIP Ski has added a new property in the Swiss resort of Verbier to its portfolio. The Bois de Bay sleeps up to 8 guests in four bedrooms with prices from £944pp including flights for groups of 8 booking the entire chalet. Parties of up to 10 can also be accommodated, with the two extra guests paying half price.
- Powder White has launched a new shuttle service, offering skiers and boarders transfers from Geneva Airport to the popular Three Valleys resorts of Courchevel and Meribel for €65 per person each way. Starting on December 9 for both Powder White guest and independent travellers, the shuttle will initially run on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays offering a door-to-door service to chalets, hotels and apartments. Services will depart from Courchevel and Meribel around 6am and 8am respectively, and from Geneva Airport at 12.30 and 15.00. Additional times and days will be available on request. - Scottish singer Amy Macdonald will stage a Top Of The Mountain gig in the Austrian ski resort of Ischgl on Saturday November 24, the day after the ski lifts and slopes open for the 2012-13 season. The line-up for the rest of the week is Swiss-born DJ Antoine on Wednesday 28, German band Wingenfelder & Wingenfelder on Thursday 29, and German rock band The Scorpions on December 1. All concerts start at 6pm and are free to holders of a valid skipass.
