Winter Storm Saturn rolls over Chicago
The travel industry is gearing up for snow and gusting winds that likely will tangle air traffic in the Midwest today and then barrel toward the East Coast on Wednesday and Thursday.
The US National Weather Service yesterday posted winter storm advisories, warnings, and watches from Montana to Pennsylvania, as airlines including United and US Air encouraged their travelers to get out of harm’s way before the flakes fall.
The snow is expected to continue around Chicago all day today and then move on toward the Atlantic coast, hitting somewhere from Washington DC to Boston, most likely as rain.
The Weather Service advised "only traveling if in an emergency" and predicted that "travel through O’Hare and Midway Airports will likely be significantly affected."
Yesterday morning saw 117 flights canceled around the US, mostly in the Minneapolis area.
