Wizz Air chief financial officer quits
The low-cost airline is searching for a new chief financial officer following the sudden resignation of Sonia Jerez Burdeus.
Wizz Air said Burdeus had opted to leave following ‘a change in personal circumstances’.
The airline said she wanted to relocate back to Spain where she plans to take up another job.
Burdeus will remain with the company for her full notice period up to March 13, overseeing its interim management statement for the third quarter of the current financial year.
"The company has started the process of recruiting a new chief financial officer for the Group and will make a further announcement in due course," it said.
Burdeus added: "I am sad to be leaving Wizz Air as, during my time here, I have enjoyed being part of a strong, successful company and dynamic team.
"It is for personal reasons that I have decided to move back to my native Spain and, in the course of managing those issues, an opportunity developed which allows me to do so."
Group CEO Jozsef Varadi said: "We are obviously disappointed to see Sonia Jerez leave the Company but understand that personal considerations can take precedence over professional life. We thank Sonia for her contribution and wish her well."
