Woman, 60, stabbed in beach robbery
Barbados: Police suspect attacker has struck twice in four days
A British woman has been stabbed in the neck on a beach in Barbados – only four days after a couple from England were robbed at the same place.
Sixty-year-old Sylvia Mayers was robbed on the beach at Cattlewash, some 20 miles from the capital Bridgetown – and police say they believe the same person was behind both of the recent attacks.
Officers told the local newspaper, the Barbados Daily Nation, they think the attacker hid in the same place before both attacks. They say the woman was approached by a man who demanded cash and managed to escape with around US$500 in Barbadian, US and UK currency.
Before escaping, the man stabbed the woman in the neck. Latest reports suggest she is in a stable condition in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Bridgetown.
