Woman arrested at Chennai Airport with 22 snakes in bag
An arriving passenger was detained at Chennai Airport, India after stuffing 22 live snakes in her baggage.
The woman was caught by customs officials after arriving from Kuala Lumpur.
The snakes were of various species along with a chameleon placed in individual plastic containers.
Officials suspect wildlife trafficking.
They were seized under customs and wildlife protection laws.
It is a fairly common occurrence and a number of illegal wildlife busts have been made at the airport in recent years.
Dozens of snakes, marmosets and tortoises were seized at Chennai airport from a traveller arriving from Thailand in January.
