Wreckage of missing plane found in Indonesia
Officials have confirmed that the wreckage of an Indonesian passenger plane has been found in the remote region of Papua.
The country’s search and rescue agency had earlier announced that contact was lost with the Trigana Air ATR 42 turboprop just after it took off from Sentani airport in Jayapura on its way to Oksibil on Sunday.
Indonesia’s transport minister said the aircraft was found by villagers in the Bintang highlands region, not far from Oksibil airport.
It is not yet known if there are any survivors among the 54 on board, which included 44 adult passengers, five children and babies, and five crew members.
