World Travel Market saw a marginal rise in visitors in its first three days of this year’s event.

The number of attendees reached 42,289, a two per cent increase on the same period last year.

Meridian Club members, international buyers with purchasing authority, numbered 12,323.

The opening day attendance of 26,122 at the ExCeL venue in London on Monday was the highest in the exhibition’s 25-year history.

Overseas trade visitors on the third day were up by 11 per cent year on year.

Print and broadcast media worldwide attending the exhibition had increased by two per cent to 2,636 at the end of the third day.

The four-day exhibition, which closed yesterday, was almost five per cent larger this year than in 2003 with more than 5,000 exhibitors.
