Yorkshire agency ceases trading
A Yorkshire based agency has closed down after more than five decades of trading.
Ashley Adams Worldchoice, based in Driffield, ceased trading this week.
The ABTA agency was first established in the late 1960s.
Business owner Steve Riley announced its closure on social media: “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the most difficult news we have ever had to give. After over 53 years as an independent travel agent, Ashley Adams Worldchoice has gone into voluntary liquidation.”
“This is, without question, the saddest moment of my life.”
The reasons are ‘complex’ he said, citing various factors including the Covid downturn and more recently, added costs in national insurance and pension contributions.
He said current bookings are safe and are ‘now in ABTA’s control.’
ABTA responded: “Ashley Adams (Yorkshire) Ltd ceased trading on 12 August 2025 and we are now treating this company as a financial failure.”
“To ensure your holiday can continue as planned, you will need to contact your tour operator or other principal travel business. They should confirm that your booking will continue as normal, and they will now be your point of contact directly.”
