Yosemite hikers airlifted to safety
About 100 hikers were evacuated by helicopter from parts of Yosemite National Park due to a 400-acre blaze.
The fire originated in a backcountry wilderness area east of Half Dome and Little Yosemite Valley and spread due to high winds and hot temperatures.
The park and all roads leading into the park remain open, although several trails near Half Dome, Merced Lake and nearby camps closed.
No injuries were reported.
More than 100 state, local and federal firefighters used helicopters, air tankers and ground crews to attack the fire.
