You’re invited: To Wimbledon and Westminster Abbey
Visit Britain is giving the world the chance of a sneak peek at this year’s Royal Wedding at Westminster Abbey, or to walk onto Centre Court at Wimbledon.
A touring 3D art installment encourages people to step into the scene pictured, have their photograph taken and “feel the fun of Britain, to see it a whole new dimension,†says Garry White, Visit Britain global head of market planning and operations.
“We’re creating a sense of enjoyment that you get from travelling. This is something that’s hard to achieve in a traditional marketing campaign,†he said.
Part of UK tourism agency, VisitBritain’s “You’re Invited” campaign, the life-size pavement illustrations create an optical illusion that make passers-by feel like they were entering a famous British scene.

“The canvas isn’t complete until someone walks into it,†says White.
World-renowned 3D street artists Joe and Max were commissioned to create the nine canvases currently touring key locations around the globe.

Visitors are invited to have their photo taken for free and then encouraged to log on to VisitBritain’s Love UK Facebook page, where they can enter it into a competition to win two British Airways return flights to Britain.
The works have already appeared in Sydney and Singapore and are heading to Shanghai, Delhi, Utrecht, Stockholm, Milan, Los Angeles and Sao Paulo.
The promotion is part of a £100 million public-private marketing programme spread over four years.
Trade partners in the promotion are British Airways, Radisson Edwardian Hotels, Hilton Hotels, DFDS ferries, P&O and the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships.
