Youtube should be part of marketing mix
A main dancing badly all around the world was used by Google to show delegates at a travel technology show this week how social networking has penetrated the world of etravel.
Google’s managing director of advertising and marketing Robert Torres explained to delegates at London’s Travolution summit yesterday that viral marketing was now the holy grail of travel companies.
He said: “The Where On Earth Is Matt video on Youtube, now viewed over nine million times, was such an internet phenomenon that a major US gum company sponsored him to continue his global jigging.
“Companies know that more than 80% of people researching travel online will search for videos before a trip.â€
He told delegates: “Participate in and promote this form of marketing and have fun with it. It is one of the largest free focus groups you have. Remember that Youtube is currently the sixth most visited site in the world.â€
