Singapore Airlines offers daily service from London Gatwick to award-winning Changi Airport - News & announcements
Singapore Airlines, already a major player in London, has taken things to the next level with the addition of a daily direct flight from London Gatwick to Singapore Changi Airport. First introduced on 22nd June 2024 at five times a week, Singapore Airlines has increased the frequency of this flight to daily just 10 months after introducing the service. UK & Ireland General Manager Mohamed Rafi Mar said: “There’s no greater testament to the success of our London Gatwick service than the expansion of our schedule within its first year.”
Singapore Airlines is to date the only airline out of London Gatwick to offer a non-stop daily flight to Singapore, providing enhanced connectivity across Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The London Gatwick departures enable connections via Singapore to Sydney in 21 hours and 30 minutes, one of the fastest current air links to Australia from the UK.
Flying out of London Gatwick with Singapore Airlines represents a new convenient opportunity for travelling to Singapore and beyond. London Gatwick can be reached by an extensive public transport system with the largest rail catchment of any UK airport, with direct connections to over 120 train stations including London in under 30 minutes. The airport offers less crowded facilities than many other international airports in the UK and is a great alternative for premium passengers including business travellers and luxury travellers, as well as solo travellers, couples and families.

Singapore Airlines has debuted at London Gatwick with the first flight to Singapore.
The new second London route complements SIA’s four daily flights from London Heathrow.
The carrier also serves the Lion City from Manchester five times a week.
The new London Gatwick flight operates five times a week to Singapore, and offer the fastest connecting service from the UK to Sydney, in 21 hours 40 minutes.
The airline's main hub at Singapore's Changi International Airport allows easy transfers to connecting flights to Southeast Asia and Australasia.
Mohamed Rafi Mar, Singapore Airlines GM, UK & Ireland said: "We are pleased to offer more choices to customers, with London Gatwick as our third UK gateway.”
“We have seen a growing demand for travel not just to Singapore, but to Southeast Asia and Australia."
The 13-hour flight is operated on Airbus A350-900 jets with 253 seats in three classes.
London Gatwick flight SQ309 will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to Singapore Changi.
Singapore Airlines has amended its policy on in-flight seatbelt use following the severe turbulence incident that killed a British passenger and injured dozens more.
The airline will not serve passengers food and drink when the seatbelt sign is on, it said.
“SIA will continue to review our processes, as the safety of our passengers and crew is of utmost importance.”

Singapore Airlines launches at home bag check-in for London departures - News & announcements
Singapore Airlines passengers on departing London flights can now make use of a seamless luggage home collection service.
It is available to travellers departing on Singapore flights from London Heathrow Terminal 2.
They must reside within the M25.
This is expected to be extended to locations further afield after the summer period.
Singapore Airlines' customers can book a collection slot up to 12 months in advance, and until 24 hours before their London flight, via the AirPortr website.
Luggage will be picked up from the customer's address during the booked time slot after they have checked in online.
Upon pickup, AirPortr drivers check all boarding passes and passports and proceed by sealing and photographing the luggage.
Once luggage is taken to the airport, it is checked in and the customer will be notified via text.
Prices start from £28 for one bag pickup from central London or £33 for two.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has been named World’s Best Airline in the 2023 Skytrax World Airline Awards, the fifth time it has won this prestigious accolade.
SIA took the top spot in four categories at this year’s Skytrax awards, including Best First Class Airline, Best First Class Comfort Amenities, and Best Airline in Asia. SIA’s low-cost subsidiary Scoot was named Best Long Haul Low-cost Airline, and ranked second in the World’s Best Low-cost Airlines category.
The Skytrax awards are based on surveys of more than 20 million travellers across over 100 nationalities, who rated more than 325 airlines between September 2022 and May 2023.
Mr Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive Officer, Singapore Airlines, received the World’s Best Airline award on behalf of the Airline in Paris on 20 June 2023.

Singapore Airlines is expanding free unlimited in-flight Wi-Fi across all cabin classes.
From 1 July it includes all Premium Economy Class and Economy Class customers.
It will be available virtually across the entire aircraft fleet and almost the entire route network.
To use it, customers enter their KrisFlyer membership details at the point of booking through the Manage Booking online option, or at check-in.
Non-KrisFlyer members can also sign up for membership online or on board their flight via the SIA digital content portal.
Suites, First Class, and Business Class customers, as well as PPS Club members[ will continue to have free unlimited in-flight Wi-Fi.
Since February, KrisFlyer members in Premium and Economy Class get three- and two-hour Wi-Fi surf plans respectively.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) customers will enjoy the most comprehensive free unlimited Wi-Fi access in the airline industry from 1 July 2023, when the service is extended to all travellers in all cabin classes, including Premium Economy Class and Economy Class.
This enhanced Wi-Fi offering will be available virtually across the entire aircraft fleet1 and almost the entire global SIA route network.
As a result, customers across all cabin classes will be able to stay connected with loved ones, work online, or keep up to date with the latest news or their social media feeds, even from 36,000 feet in the sky.
To enjoy this service, customers must enter their KrisFlyer membership details at the point of booking through the Manage Booking online option, or at check-in. Non-KrisFlyer members may also sign up for their free membership online or on board their flight via the SIA digital content portal on their personal mobile devices to enjoy the complimentary in-flight Wi-Fi.
Suites, First Class, and Business Class customers, as well as PPS Club members2 will continue to enjoy access to free unlimited in-flight Wi-Fi. Since February 2023, KrisFlyer members travelling in Premium Economy Class and Economy Class have enjoyed complimentary three- and two-hour Wi-Fi surf plans respectively.

Singapore Airlines Group just posted its highest ever net profit
Group passenger capacity reached 79% of pre-Covid1 levels in March 2023, higher than the average for Asia-Pacific airlines.
SIA and Scoot collectively carried 26.5 million passengers, up six-times from the year before.
Passenger load factor jumped to 85.4%, which is the highest ever.
Group operating profit came in at a record $2.6 billion reversing the $610 million loss a year ago.
SIA Group net profit was $2.1 billion.
Revenue increased by $10 billion to a record $17.7 billion.
The strong demand for air travel spurred high revenue and passenger load factors, it said.
Borders fully reopened just over a year ago.
SIA and Scoot were among the first to launch flights as borders reopened, and captured the pent-up demand," said SIA.
The Group shareholders’ equity was $19.9 billion as of 31 March 2023.
Cash and bank balances stood at $16.3 billion.

It has various Australian destinations on sale departing London Heathrow and Manchester Airport from £994pp.
Additionally, direct flights from Manchester to Houston are also on sale, starting from £469pp.
Available for a limited time, discounted Economy, Premium Economy and Business Class return fares depart London Heathrow, Manchester and Aberdeen until early 2024.
Unlimited complimentary Wi-Fi is offered to passengers travelling in Business Class, PPS Club members, and supplementary cardholders.
KrisFlyer members enjoy complimentary in-flight Wi-Fi allowance of two hours in Economy and three hours in Premium Economy.
