The City of Juneau, Alaska will limit Alaska cruise ships calls to five per day.

It agreed to adopt this and other tourism management  proposals made by the city’s Visitor Industry Task Force.

The limit was first agreed in 2020 but wasn’t implemented due to the Alaska cruise pandemic era downturn.

It is not expected to cause ant significant short term impact as Juneau only has four ship berths and one anchorage.

A new pier development project is in the works and will still go ahead.

Alaska welcomed 1.3 million cruise visitors in 2019.

Based on 2023 scheduled calls, this could increase to 1.6 million this year.
