100% smoke-free hotels
The days of smoke shrouded restaurants and smoke-ingrained rooms in French hotels may be a thing of the past following the announcement by Accor that – as a first step – eight of its Ibis hotels in France will become 100% smoke-free hotels.
The move follows increasing demand for non-smoking rooms and areas by guests, both French and international. Today eight Ibis hotels in France officially became 100% smoke-free: Ibis Lille Hôtel de Ville, Ibis Lyon Centre, Ibis Marseille Centre Bourse, Ibis Nantes Centre Gare Sud, Ibis Paris La Défense Courbevoie, Ibis Paris Saint-Denis Stade sud, Ibis Strasbourg Petite France and Ibis Toulouse Université.
Over time, other Ibis hotels will also become smoke-free.
With a strong slogan “Enjoy a smoke-free atmosphere” Ibis has taken into consideration how important it is for the health and well-being of its guests to breathe clean air in its hotels, as well as making them more pleasant.
It takes more than a simple decision to make a hotel 100% smoke-free. A whole raft of measures and changes are required. Firstly, a commitment is required from the staff that they will no longer smoke inside the hotel.
Then, major cleaning work is required to get rid of tobacco residue from the rooms and common areas, with particular attention paid to carpets and textiles (in the case of persistent odours they are replaced):
- the carpeting was shampooed,
- the bedspreads, , blankets and pillows were washed or dry-cleaned,
- all the curtains were washed.
