10th hotel for UK Holiday Group
The UK Holiday Group has bought its 10th property with the acquisition of the Richmond Hotel in Torquay.
The deal by the Norwich-based group adds to a growing portfolio of properties in UK seaside resorts and scenic settings.
The 48-room hotel was on the market for £1.1 million and about £250,000 will be spent on the first refurbishment phase early in 2008.
After a facelift, the property will feature in Grand UK Holidays’ summer 2008 brochure, due out in September.
Harold Burke, sales director of The UK Holiday Group, which includes Grand UK Hotels, Grand UK Holidays, Group UK and Glenton brands, said: “We already have nine good quality touring hotels around Britain, from the Isle of Wight to the Scottish Highlands.
“Now our 10th property will allow our guests to enjoy the many attractions of the English Riviera.”
The operator, which specialises in holidays for over-55s, has a portfolio of properties consisting of: County Hotel, Kendal; Glen Usk Hotel, Llandrindod Wells; Monarch Hotel, Bridlington; Warwick Hotel, Blackpool; Grand Palm Hotel, Newquay; Bridge of Tilt Hotel, Blair Atholl; Grand Ash Hotel, Llandudno; County Hotel, Skegness; Parkbury Hotel, Sandown, Isle of Wight; and Richmond Hotel, Torquay.
