2005 Israel Tourism Awards
The combined Israel Trade and Tourism Awards were held at the Pier One Sebel Hotel in Sydney on the evening of Thursday 17 November 2005. There were 135 attendees including 20 participants of an Israeli telecommunications trade delegation visiting Australia. The evening was jointly organised by the Israel Trade Commission, the Israel Government Tourist Office and the Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce.
Dr David Beirman, Director Israel Tourism Office Australasia & SW Pacific presented the awards stating that ” tourism in 2005 has been a beacon for economic growth in Israel . In both trade and tourism Israel is experiencing significant growth and optimism. Israel’s Ministry of Tourism is now working closely with its counterparts in Jordan, Egypt and the Palestinian Authority to jointly promote tourism from a wide range of source markets. The Eastern Mediterranean Tourism Association which has been a huge success in Australia since 2001 is a global role model for Israel’s efforts to market inbound tourism in conjunction with its regional neighbours.”
During 2005, tourism from Australia to Israel has grown by 33% over last years encouraging figures, In 2004, 15,000 Australians visited Israel. This year the target is 20,000.
This year’s winners were: Goldman Travel, Tempo Holidays, Inner Faith Travel, Travel Blitz, Insight Vacations, Bay Travel and Exodus Travel.
